1st fall short in League opener
Earlsdon suffered a tough defeat in their league season opener against Claverdon, with a final scoreline of 14-13. Despite strong efforts, Earlsdon were ultimately undone by too many unforced errors, particularly off first-phase play, where their handling and execution were below par. Claverdon capitalised on these mistakes and controlled the game from early on.
Coach Jon Fitt did not shy away from taking responsibility for the performance, acknowledging that the team simply wasn't good enough on the day. "We made too many mistakes, especially off first-phase ball, and that's something we’ll fix immediately. I take full responsibility, but I guarantee improvements will be made."
There were some positives for Earlsdon despite the result. Standout player Tom Bramwell put in a tireless shift, showing determination in both attack and defence, providing a glimmer of hope amidst the struggles. Additionally, the match saw several new faces proudly donning the Earlsdon jersey, which bodes well for the club’s future.
The day was also marked by a fantastic Ladies Day event, with a great turnout of supporters, showcasing the strong community spirit at the club. Coach Fitt expressed his gratitude, saying, "It was great to see so many new and familiar faces supporting us, and the Ladies Day was a real highlight despite the result."
