Match Report: Earlsdon 12-48 Broadstreet

Earlsdon delivered a strong first-half performance but ultimately fell to a 48-12 defeat against Broadstreet in a hard-fought contest. The away side started brightly, scoring two impressive tries through Tom Bramwell and captain Jack Sarjaent, giving them a deserved 12-10 lead at halftime.

Earlsdon’s intensity and commitment in the opening 50 minutes were clear, frustrating a Broadstreet side who struggled to find their rhythm early on. Bramwell’s try came after strong work at the line out, while Sarjaent’s effort showed great determination and leadership, driving his team forward.

However, the second half told a different story. Broadstreet began to find their stride as the match wore on, and Earlsdon’s momentum was dealt a significant blow when key players, including Sarjaent, fly-half Jack Tague, and back-row Jonny Inman, were forced off with injuries. The loss of these influential players opened the door for Broadstreet to take control, and they capitalized with a dominant display in the final 30 minutes.

Broadstreet’s physicality and attacking prowess came to the fore, with wave after wave of pressure leading to a flurry of tries that put the game out of reach for the away side. Earlsdon, who had shown so much promise in the first half, struggled to contain their opponents as they ran in multiple unanswered tries.

Despite the disappointing result, Earlsdon coach Jon Fitt remained positive, especially praising the effort and work rate of Logan Walsh, who was named man of the match. “Logan worked incredibly hard throughout the game, and his performance was a real highlight for us,” Fitt said. “Even when things got tough, he kept going and led by example with his effort. He fully deserved man of the match for his relentless energy.”

Fitt was also encouraged by his side’s overall first-half performance, noting the clear progress the team has made. “The first 50 minutes were excellent, and we showed what we’re capable of,” Fitt said. “But we have to be better at closing games out and managing difficult periods. Injuries certainly didn’t help, but we need to find a way to get ourselves over the line in these situations.”

While the result was not what Earlsdon would have hoped for, the match highlighted the potential within the team, particularly during that strong first-half showing.
