Stoke Old Boys RFC

8 - 42

(HT 0-0)

Earlsdon RFC

Earlsdon extended their winning streak to an impressive ten games with a commanding 42-8 victory against Stoke Old Boys. Despite the match being earmarked as a potential banana skin for the second-placed league side, the visitors displayed resilience and flair to secure a crucial win on the road.

Stoke Old Boys started the game strongly, capitalising on early pressure to take the lead with a penalty goal. Earlsdon quickly responded through the reliable boot of Tague, who levelled the scores and added two further penalties, giving the away side a 6-3 advantage. However, unforced errors from Earlsdon prevented them from converting their possession into significant points during the early exchanges.

The game’s first try came courtesy of Walsh, who finished a well-executed move following a solid centre-field scrum. The ball moved smoothly through the hands, allowing Walsh to step inside and touch down.

The second half saw Earlsdon take complete control, with their attacking play proving too much for the home side. Roberts, making a triumphant return to the 1st XV, scored twice, showcasing both power and precision. Walsh added his second try of the match, while Jack Haywood and Micky Moore also crossed the whitewash to put the game well beyond Stoke’s reach.

Tague's conversions added the finishing touches, bringing the final score to an emphatic 42-8.

JK was named man of the match, a decision that delighted Coach Jon Fitt. “JK works so hard in training, and it’s fantastic to see his efforts rewarded on the pitch,” Fitt said. He also highlighted the growing depth in the squad, praising players like Jack Madloff and Ollie Lee for stepping up when needed. “Asking players like Jack and Ollie to contribute at this level shows the depth we are starting to develop, and it’s a great sign for the future of the team.”

The result solidifies Earlsdon’s position as a formidable force in the league, with the team showing no signs of slowing down as they chase promotion. Coach Fitt summed up the achievement: “Winning 10 games in a row is an achievement by any team, and I’m really delighted for the players and the club. The second-half display was a testament to the team’s hard work and belief.”
