Final Score: Earlsdon 24 – Claverdon 12

Earlsdon RFC brought their league season to a close with a composed and dominant 24-12 away win over a strong Claverdon side, securing a well-earned second-place finish in the table.

The tone was set early with two excellent team tries in the first half. Sam Mauch and Josh Fitzmaurice both crossed after sweeping phases that showcased Earlsdon’s organisation, support play and attacking intent.

In the second half, a moment of individual brilliance came from Max McHugh, who read the play superbly to intercept a pass and race in under the posts. McHugh also kicked two penalties and three conversions, finishing with 14 points and putting a stamp on a quality all-round performance.

Head Coach Jon Fitt was full of praise for the team’s performance and especially proud of captain Jack Sarjaent, whose leadership has been key throughout the season. “Jack has led with real maturity and heart—he sets the tone on and off the pitch, and I’m proud of how he’s driven this group forward,” said Fitt.

Claverdon fought hard and brought physicality throughout, but Earlsdon’s discipline, work rate and togetherness shone through. “It’s hard to pick a man of the match when every single player worked so hard for each other,” Fitt added.

With the league season wrapped up on a high, attention now turns to the upcoming cup fixtures, where Earlsdon will look to carry their momentum forward.
