2nd XV POWER past Southam
The second 15 got their season off to a real band with a resounding victory against Southam rugby club. Lead by Gareth Withers the team played some free-flowing rugby to score 4 tries. One of the best came from Ishan Singh running full length of the pitch to score under the post. Other notable performances came from Ellis Abbott, then Power and Sam Lucas. The boys have worked hard in training and it’s great to be able to put two teams out against two quality oppositions. competition for places is high so it’s vital that we play as many games as possible to keep everyone fit and the squad working hard to maintain their place in the team. Coach Gaz Withers “this result now shows the depth of players we now find ourselves having. Lots of work by the club behind the scenes shows we are committed to building a strong Rugby team, having a 2nd team out as much as possible is a key to keep this build going. there needs to be competition for our players, and the second team is the place where they showcase their abilities in the chase for that 1st team jersey. All the players on the pitch put in a massive shift, in a really hard-fought game, it was our defensive line and powerful tackles from everyone on the pitch, that allowed the attacking lessons learned over the last few months to shine through.
Final Score: Southam 10 - 24 Earlsdon
Man of the Match: Ellis Abbott (Earlsdon)
