Earlsdon RFC 24 - 3 Kidderminister RFC
Earlsdon 1st XV ground out a deserved 24–3 victory over Kidderminster in gruelling, wet conditions, producing enough moments of sharp, clinical rugby to take control of a scrappy contest.
Despite the heavy surface and sticky ball, the home side settled quickest. Their set piece stood up brilliantly in the weather, with the lineout in particular proving a reliable platform throughout. That stability gave Earlsdon front-foot ball, and it wasn’t long before their ambition was rewarded. A well-executed strike move from midfield exposed a fractured defence and sent Dyal flying into the corner for the opening try.
Momentum stayed firmly with the hosts, who dominated territory and possession. However, the final pass often drifted loose or slid through wet hands, preventing them from pulling further ahead. Persistence eventually paid off when sustained pressure from the pack sucked in defenders, creating space out wide for Walsh to finish smartly in the corner and extend the lead.
The second half belonged to man of the match Nat Hall. Relentless in contact and tireless in his work rate, he repeatedly dented the Kidderminster defensive line. His efforts were rewarded when he powered over from close range after another spell of cohesive attacking play. With the boot adding further points, Earlsdon kept the scoreboard ticking and tightened their grip on the match.
Kidderminster battled hard but struggled to generate momentum against an organised and physical home defence, mustering only a single penalty for their efforts.
Speaking after the match, coach Jon Fitt praised the effort and execution in difficult conditions. He acknowledged, however, that there is still work to do: securing the full five-point haul remains essential in order to keep pace with the league’s leading sides.
A strong performance in tough weather, a solid set-piece, and standout displays—particularly from Hall—leave plenty of positives as Earlsdon look ahead to their next challenge.
