After some great organisation and researching, committee member Liam Murray, managed to contact most of the Former Captains from around 1960 onwards. Some have since passed away and some have moved away but Liam still managed to persuade around 35 to attend.
The day went well, there was plenty of old stories retold, a lot of beer was drunk, a nice free buffet and then a presentation of a new tie with the club crest and the words "First XV Captain" awarded to all the Former Captains. The 1965/66 captain, Mick Thompson, was the oldest captain in attendance and he had the audience in stitches with some of his old stories.
This will now be an annual event, it will be great to see the lads wearing their new ties next year at the club.
After the presentation the crowds watched the First XV play their last Counties 1 league game of the season against Broadstreet 2s, despite both teams relegated to Counties 2, it was a good game played in the right spirit with Earlsdon coming out on top 18 - 14.
